{"url":"http://public2.vulnerablecode.io/api/vulnerabilities/2441?format=json","vulnerability_id":"VCID-5rcy-z5xh-xuc2","summary":"Mozilla developers identified and fixed several stability bugs in the browser engine used in Firefox and other Mozilla-based products. Some of these crashes showed evidence of memory corruption under certain circumstances and we presume that with enough effort at least some of these could be exploited to run arbitrary code.Drew Yao of Apple Product Security reported two crashes in Mozilla image rendering code.  This vulnerability only affected Firefox 3.David Maciejak of Fortinet's FortiGuard Global Security\nResearch Team also reported a crash in graphics rendering which only\naffected Firefox 3.Thunderbird shares the browser engine with Firefox and could be vulnerable if JavaScript were to be enabled in mail. This is not the default setting and we strongly discourage users from running JavaScript in mail. Without further investigation we cannot rule out the possibility that for some of these an attacker might be able to prepare memory for exploitation through some means other than JavaScript such as large images.","aliases":[{"alias":"CVE-2008-4062"}],"fixed_packages":[],"affected_packages":[],"references":[{"reference_url":"https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2008-4062","reference_id":"CVE-2008-4062","reference_type":"","scores":[],"url":"https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2008-4062"},{"reference_url":"https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/security/advisories/mfsa2008-42","reference_id":"mfsa2008-42","reference_type":"","scores":[{"value":"critical","scoring_system":"generic_textual","scoring_elements":""}],"url":"https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/security/advisories/mfsa2008-42"}],"weaknesses":[],"exploits":[],"severity_range_score":"9.0 - 10.0","exploitability":null,"weighted_severity":null,"risk_score":null,"resource_url":"http://public2.vulnerablecode.io/vulnerabilities/VCID-5rcy-z5xh-xuc2"}
