{"url":"http://public2.vulnerablecode.io/api/vulnerabilities/86988?format=json","vulnerability_id":"VCID-b6cy-81ch-pkdh","summary":"In GDAL 3.1.0 through 3.13.0, scanForGeometryContainers in the netCDF driver allows code execution via a stack-based buffer overflow. It reads a geometry attribute into a fixed-size stack buffer without validating the attribute length. The attacker embeds the exploit as an oversized geometry attribute in a crafted NetCDF file. This achieves arbitrary code execution on the server running GDAL. This is in frmts/netcdf/netcdfsg.cpp.","aliases":[{"alias":"CVE-2026-49014"}],"fixed_packages":[],"affected_packages":[],"references":[{"reference_url":"https://api.first.org/data/v1/epss?cve=CVE-2026-49014","reference_id":"","reference_type":"","scores":[{"value":"0.00015","scoring_system":"epss","scoring_elements":"0.03315","published_at":"2026-05-29T12:55:00Z"}],"url":"https://api.first.org/data/v1/epss?cve=CVE-2026-49014"},{"reference_url":"https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2026-49014","reference_id":"","reference_type":"","scores":[],"url":"https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2026-49014"},{"reference_url":"https://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/security/yaml/suse-cvss-scores.yaml","reference_id":"","reference_type":"","scores":[{"value":"7.4","scoring_system":"cvssv3.1","scoring_elements":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H"}],"url":"https://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/security/yaml/suse-cvss-scores.yaml"},{"reference_url":"https://github.com/OSGeo/gdal/issues/14594","reference_id":"14594","reference_type":"","scores":[{"value":"7.4","scoring_system":"cvssv3.1","scoring_elements":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H"},{"value":"Track*","scoring_system":"ssvc","scoring_elements":"SSVCv2/E:P/A:N/T:T/P:M/B:A/M:M/D:R/2026-05-27T13:51:40Z/"}],"url":"https://github.com/OSGeo/gdal/issues/14594"}],"weaknesses":[{"cwe_id":121,"name":"Stack-based Buffer Overflow","description":"A stack-based buffer overflow condition is a condition where the buffer being overwritten is allocated on the stack (i.e., is a local variable or, rarely, a parameter to a function)."}],"exploits":[],"severity_range_score":"7.4 - 7.4","exploitability":null,"weighted_severity":null,"risk_score":null,"resource_url":"http://public2.vulnerablecode.io/vulnerabilities/VCID-b6cy-81ch-pkdh"}
